Ninth Circuit Judge William Alsup has ordered the Trump Administration to reinstate tens of thousands of fired probationary workers. In 2022, Judge Alsup presided over a $6 Billion settlement between 200,000 student loan debtors and the Department of Education in a landmark Borrower Defense to Repayment case (Sweet v Cardona). In 2023, the US Supreme Court declined to take the appeal by three schools.
